We are a group of PhD students under the direction of Dr. Nikitichev who decided to develop a set of teaching materials that explain how to create functional 3D printed models from medical images to be used for anatomical and surgical training.

Daniil Nikitichev earned a PhD from the University of Dundee (2012) in Laser Physics. The same year he joined University College London in London, UK. He is involved both in research and teaching. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and an Honorary Fellow of the University College London Hospital. He is interested in 3D printing, 3D design, photoacoustic imaging, and medical phantom development. In addition, he is passionate about public engagement and commercialisation.

After graduating from Imperial College with a MSci in Physics, Thore Bücking joined the EPSRC CDT in Medical Imaging at University College London in 2014. His research is focused on using the photoacoustic effect to determine blood flow velocities in the microvasculature. His interests include 3D printing, data visualisation and computer aided design.

Efthymios Maneas joined University College London as a MRes/PhD student at the EPSRC CDT in Medical Imaging in 2014. He holds a 4 year BSc in Biomedical Engineering from TEI of Athens and a MSc in Medical Informatics from University of Athens. His research is focused on imaging of the human placental vasculature for guiding minimally invasive fetal interventions. His interests include medical image analysis, instrumentation, photoacoustic imaging, teaching and 3D printing.

After graduating from Cambridge with a Masters in Natural Sciences, Emma joined UCL as part of the EPSRC CDT in Medical Imaging in 2014. Her research is focussed on the application of photoacoustic imaging for surgical guidance. Her interests include medical image processing, 3D printing and instrumentation.

James Louis Robertson obtained an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science with Medical Physics from University College London in 2013 in part completion of an MBBS in Medicine (on hiatus). He is currently reading for a PhD in Medical Physics at the Biomedical Ultrasound Group of the Dept. of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering of UCL. His research is based on the use of numerical simulation of ultrasound for the transcranial focusing of ultrasonic therapy, and includes the creation and validation of multiple ultrasonic bone phantoms.
